Against my expectation this washing machine is an excellent one, the price is right and I recommend it strongly for a front loading washing machine. The best part was I paid no tax and no shipping or delivery. Pity state of California is going to screw it up forcing Amazon to charge tax... I'm enjoying it for now. :)

I've owned this washer since July 2010 and I've hate it. I enjoy that I can put a load of laundry in at night and set it so it finishes washing just before I wake up. The different cycles are nice, but you can't control cycles 100% which is a downer (for instance, you can't make a delicate cycle wash for longer). But I hate that it "eats" clothes. Just after a year of owning the washer I started noticing giant rips in our clothes, and a grey dust when the wash would finish. I tried various tricks to prevent ripping. I could no longer wash a full load or my clothes would come out ripped, I had to spin them on a lower speed which increased the drying time (both of these are a big problem because I bought the size I did to be able to wash larger loads and have a faster drying time). I also could only do quick washes or heavy duty washes to prevent the rips for a time. Recently every load ends up being ripped. I found a suggestion to replace the boot seal, which just ended up being a waste of money. I've read other reviews where people have had the same problem and I just wish they'd posted about it before I bought it. I'd only suggest buying this washing machine if you would like your clothes to be ripped up.

I've had this washer & the nearly-matching 3000 series dryer (one step up, the 3000 has steam cycles whereas the one that matches this washer does not) for just over 7 months now & I couldn't be happier. I wanted stackable units to create some space for a folding counter with underneath storage in my laundry room & the Maytag series was a relatively affordable solution (you must purchase the stacking kit, sold separately). I'm a little surprised after reading some of the negative reviews - I haven't had any issues (knock on wood!). It's obviously a base model, so it doesn't have ALL the bells and whistles, but I'm more than satisfied with the cycle options and I was absolutely SHOCKED at how quiet it is! I actually went to check on it the first couple of times I used it thinking it had stopped working! I am careful to wipe out the seal after I'm through with laundry for the day & I haven't had any trouble with mildew or odors. I have had a few rinse errors - not ALL high efficiency detergents are created equal! I've learned to steer clear of Arm & Hammer & that resolved my issues. Overall, I think it's great option, especially for this price point!
