I LOVE this washing machine. Seriously. I finally dumped an 18-year-old noisy top-loader for this sleek new digital wonder and couldn't be happier. To address some of the complaints I've read on this model, first, you don't have to clean any filter daily or after every load. There IS a water pump filter on the lower left corner of the machine which is LG recommends you clean monthly, depending on use. I've checked the filter twice in a month and haven't seen any build up yet. Second, the machine does its best to balance an awkward load of heavy wet items in the spin cycle. If it starts to spin and is too off-balance, it will give up, try to readjust the items with some low-speed spins, and try again. The machine WILL vibrate some as it first starts spinning and the clothes are heavy with water. As the clothes start to lose their water, the spin will even out and become nearly vibration free. Regardless, it is MUCH quieter than my old top-loader.I actually checked the noise level with a dB meter and compared them to what my old machine used to put out. My old "Lady Kenmore" top-loader would top-out at about 80 dBs, usually during the wash and spin cycles. The LG WM2250C tops-out at 50 dB, while injecting water into the wash drum, or during the first part of an awkwardly balanced spin cycle. As a reference, 50 dB is about the same noise level you'd get in a busy park or face-to-face conversation with someone. I also installed two "water hammer" arrestors on the water inlets for about $15 total from your local hardware store which "cushion" the water column in your pipes as the fast acting valves used in these types of clothes washers inject water into the wash drum. Without the water hammer arrestors, the valves switching on and off (they do so a dozen times during a wash cycle) might produce a loud thud in your water pipes, which is annoying and could cause damage to your plumbing. The water hammer arrestors reduced the noise level during the water injection another 5 dB, making the loudest part of this washing machine an off-balance spin cycle.The clothes coming out of this washer are incredible. There is much less odor in the clothes from residual soap residue because the rinse cycle is much more efficient and the washer needs much less detergent than a top-loader to start with. Also, the high speed spin option gets the clothes so dry they need significantly less time in the dryer, increasing your utility savings. After drying, all my clothes and bedsheets and even towels feel softer and more supple, with less detergent smell. I am extremely happy with this. The washer also has a handy magnetic door holder which keeps the door semi-closed and out of the way while allowing air to move in and out, preventing mold or mildew growth.The few drawbacks I can think of are a longer wash cycle (normal cycle with normal soil level takes about 45 minutes) and the fact that you can't open the door at all during the cycle - unless you unplug the washer. I found the silly electronic chimes that the washing machine plays at the beginning and end of the cycle to be annoying, but it was easy to permanently turn them off. Overall, anyone graduating from an old, noisy, inefficient top-loader to this sleek digital wonder will be extremely pleased.

I purchased my LG front load washer 18 months ago and it has given me nothing but a headache. The washer leaves black streaks all over my white clothes. I have tried the expensive Tide washing machine cleaner packets for front load washers, but that has not helped a bit. I would not recommend this washer to anyone. Save yourself the grief, buy something else.
