By DmK
I bought this machine about a year ago. Until one day in August, when it showed error code A10, it worked OK. It is small in size and fits under countertop in our bathroom, it is reasonably quiet, does not chew up or tear clothes, even the spin cycle is not as violent as with our previous Malber WD1000. It would occasionally error out and the green and red LEDs on its control panel would flash and dance as if for Christmas celebration. That did not happen too often (maybe two-three times in one year), and re-starting the washing cycle helped.Until that day in August when the machine showed error code A10 and no amount of canceling/re-starting could fix it. I looked up the manual, and it pointed out that code A10 stood for "drain problem". The solutions listed recommended checking the hose for kinks and clogs. My hose did not kink, and I honestly do not know how you check it for clogs, one end being permanently attached to the washer, another end attached to the drain. Remove the drain end and blow into it?I looked on the Internet, but did not find anything useful. It was time to call Whirpool. I told them about error code A10 and they scheduled a service appointment. Since my machine is under 12 months, it should have been covered by warranty. Or so I thought. Wrong. The technician arrived and immediately removed plastic panel at the bottom of the washer to access the lint filter. He asked me for a big garbage bag to catch the water. Oh yes, the lint filter! I was wondering where was my lint filter. There is no mentioning of lint filter in the manual. Nor there is any mentioning of the filter in troubleshooting guide to fix error A10. Nor can you see the lint filter because it is covered by a plastic panel that you have to know to yank out from the bottom of the machine. And there it was, my lint filter filled with forensic evidence of my crimes: a darkened dime and a rubber washer for a garden hose. And then came the punch line: cleaning lint filter is not covered by warranty. What? But I did not even know it had a lint filter... I thought this machine did not have... I looked in the manual... I called... Well, silly me, he told me right. If I search my Whirpool WFC7500VW washing machine manual (downloaded from the Web) the only match for the word "filter" is this:ITEMS EXCLUDED FROM WARRANTYService calls to repair or replace appliance light bulbs, air filters or water filters. Consumable parts are excluded from warranty coverage.Oh, clever Whirpool! You hid the lint filter, removed all mentioning of it or its location from the manual, or troubleshooting guide, or even when your customers call you and complain of error code A10. And you know that sooner or later the filter will fill up, and there WILL be a service call to clean the filter that you conveniently do not cover by warranty. This, of course is starkly different from our previous Malber WD1000, where you could just see the access panel for the lint filter, and read in the manual to clean the filter regularly.I am now sitting waiting for the bill to arrive. I wonder how much it will be. The technician did not tell me. It will be a surprise bill. Thank you, Whirpool, I will not forget.I rated the washer "OK", because I think it is, but the rating for the company for this particular product is a different matter.UPDATE: It has been about 20 days since the technician's visit, but no bill yet. Were they ashamed to charge me?

I had a hard time rating the WFC7500VW washer by Whirlpool. It isn't a spectacular piece of equipment - something that is really slick and gives you pleasure just by using it and watching it work. It feels like an average, run of the mill washer that maybe bounces about more than it should at certain brief moments in its cycling. On the other hand, it is one of only a handful of washers that come 24" wide. Choices are very few and my previous washer, one by Kenmore, did an awful job. Clothes were twisted, knotted into permanently wrinkled, mangled messes, not really cleaned and still wet once the cycle was complete no matter how it was loaded. Plus, it never seemed to work at all unless the water level was set to maximum. Now THAT was a piece of junk.So in the end, I raised the rating up from 3 stars on the Whirlpool because it does a pretty good job cleaning, doesn't knot the clothes up, spins the clothes relatively dry and actually delivers on gentle settings - all in a 24" small package. One caveat, though - Whirlpool quality control seems chancy. My companion dryer obviously had not been factory tested because the drum couldn't make a revolution without deafening scraping sounds. My washer, sealed from the factory, had some water spots at the back which makes me think it actually went through some factory testing before shipment. I hope it will be trouble free in the long term. I'll edit this review if it runs into problems. I'd be cautious about buying any of these reconditioned or used.

By hillarywith2Ls
Whirlpool has created a monster with the WFC7500VW but refuses to acknowledge its shortcomings. The washer is glitchy and temperamental. It requires an extremely detailed series of steps performed in a specific order (as well as a hope and a prayer) before it will do a load of washing. It constantly throws error codes and then seems to fix itself with no intervention, leaving me with a half-washed load of soaking wet clothes. My machine died when it was three years old. A Whirlpool technician told me that it would be at least $550 to fix it because the internal computer is wonky. He said the machine was not worth fixing and I should go out and buy a new machine but to make sure not to buy this particular model. I've been in contact with Whirlpool's customer support team and was informed that three years is not an unsatisfactory lifespan for a washing machine (I DISAGREE!)and that recalls aren't performed to correct faulty product, they're only performed when a product poses a safety risk to the consumer. I will never buy another Whirlpool product.
