    5Excellent Dryer
    By Richard Silver
We bought this dryer after first asking for the next model down, the DV330AEW. This one, the DV331AEW, has "steam technology," which is really just a water connection that allows a fine mist spray into the hot dryer. Having tried it, I must say it really works. I have plain cotton shirts that wrinkle a lot, and have always needed thorough ironing after being thru a dryer. Using the "Refresh" cycle, 15 minutes with a small water (steam) spray, all I had to do was touch-up iron the collars & pockets. In addition, there is a 90 minute "wrinkle prevent" option that tumbles clothes every few minutes and keeps lots of wrinkles from setting in. Installation is easy, but still a few comments. The dryer specification says it is 38.6 inches tall. (We bought the one without the booster drawer underneath.) Really, with its plastic feet, it is 40 inches. No big deal? It was for me, as we had already built a counter that had exactly 38.65 inches clear, so I removed the big plastic feet and put a square of 1/4 inch plywood under each corner. Samsung furnishes water hoses and a wye fitting to get cold water from the washing machine faucet. It would have worked OK, but to reduce the clutter, I ran an extra water faucet from the crawl space and up behind the dryer. The dryer's lint filter is well-designed and has all rounded corners to avoid catching clothes, which had been a real problem with our old dryer. It also has a door over its lower half, which avoids spilling lint while removing to empty it. By the way, as many people have already learned, some shopping around gets better prices: the vendor I bought dryer from was asking $859.00

1Not unless you want to buy one annually
    By Jewelry Jeannie
Delivered on December 8, 2011 and heating element went out December 6, 2012. Fortunately, Samsung has 24 hr customer service and after going through the trouble shooting process they determined that the dryer needed service and issued a warranty service ticket to their preferred provider. Their service provider refused to do the service under warranty and attempted to coerce me into paying $ 400 to replace the heating element. I was forced to pay a diagnostic fee that after much arguing with Samsung's Executive Customer Service, they agreed to reimburse me (have yet to see if that happens). After spending now 6 days dealing with Samsung, including them canceling the original service authorization because they decided not enough trouble shooting had been done and their unscrupulous preferred provider, we now have a warranty call with another company and hopefully within another week will have a repaired dryer. It is unacceptable for a major part on an appliance you expect to work for years to go out in less than one and then to have to deal with Samsung every day over issues with them and their service company.Find a dryer with a company with a history of better customer service.

    1Awful
    By Marc Rueter
I've now had this dryer for over two years and can safely say that it's the worst dryer I've ever owned. I've had Asko, then LG, now Samsung per the recommendation of the sales guy (based on his customer reviews). Not only does this thing have a terrible sensor for when things are dry (dry means very damp on most cycles), it manages to tie all of my sheets or large blankets into Celtic knots, requiring me to monitor the situation constantly. When I hear the inevitable thump thump thump of the created wad of fabric, I go shake it out again only to hear it wad up again. Woe to me if I am not right there to monitor. I found a mega wad of several items of clothing yesterday, wound so tightly that I could barely get them unwound. And to add insult to injury, the lint trap had managed to catch a strap of a tank top and snap it, along with some other damage. This after the inevitable wad of sheets that I didn't have the time to monitor because, I don't know, I have a life with kids and dogs?? I wish I had thought to look up these issues when the thing was new--others are reporting the same exact thing. I'm not in any way overloading the machine--ONE set of California king sheets, or ONE king sized blanket, folks. Not a log jam. Small loads in the machine that has the largest capacity--yes, I've even tried large loads. I think I made a replica of Saturn on those days... I've tried all kinds of things--balls in with the sheets (yeah, they get swallowed up quickly and then I get the wad). The reports from other customers having these issues were dismaying at best--Samsung will not acknowledge the issue. Here I thought it was ME, only to find out there is some sort of design flaw. I've NEVER had this wadding up issue before, and I feel like a prized idiot for putting up with it for so long; I figured it had to be me, not this marvelous machine. I give up. It's the machine. The washer is great--no issues at all. The dryer--you'd be better off getting the LG.
