This review is for the LG dryer model DLEX8000W. I've owned LG Tromm washer and dryer pair at my prior residence and decided to purchase another set of LG washer/dryer for my new home. My past set of washer/dryer ran without problem for over 5 years, but this time I wasn't so lucky and currently experiencing the displeasures of dealing with LG customer service for the first time. When you buy an LG, make sure that the vendor you're purchasing the unit from will own up and exchange for a manufacturer's defect. My dryer unit ARRIVED defective, and made a very loud hammering noise and vibrations upon cold start from the moment it was turned on for the first time. The vendor I purchased the unit had me contact LG warranty service, or I had to pay for the return shipping in upwards of $300-500 - please note that it seems most online vendors have a similar policy when dealing with an LG defect. The only feasible replacement option was to go through LG warranty service, and LG sent out local warranty technicians three times (one appointment a no show) who could not determine the cause of the problem after taking the unit apart completely several times. The last tech sent out called LG tech support, and they assumed that the problem was with a worn turbine, rubber bushing and a washer that'll need to be replaced. If that doesn't work, they may replace the entire dryer drum that could be dented although it doesn't look dented at all??? wow - how is that a brand new dryer unit was shipped with WORN parts? Doesn't LG QA their appliances before shipping new products? The bottom line is that LG customer support is horrible and full of attitude, and they're completely adamant about their policy that unless a unit is deemed "unrepairable" by their own tech line, you'll get many warranty service visits and parts replacements even with a brand new unit. At one point, they even noted that my dryer noise is normal until I sent them another set of videos to prove otherwise. I've had my dryer for less than 30 days, but it is full of scratches (from the clumsy techs) and I completely regret purchasing it online. Even if the unit noise gets fixed with further parts replacements, the appliance has already suffered quite of bit of strain on its body/motor that probably reduced its lifespan. Do yourself a favor and get it from your local appliance store, and know that LG customer service is rated 547 to 25, a whopping 96% negatively reviewed under Customer Service Scoreboard. I am completely disappointed with LG, and I'll stay away from the brand.
