Looked at Lowes for their Samsung washer selection, but posted my review here on Amazon because my review couldn't get past whatever automated censor software they use for reviews. Their loss, Amazon's gain!We are replacing our 2007 Samsung Washer WF328AAW/XAA after just 5 heavy years of usage with another Samsung Washer WF393BTPARA (similar to Lowes WF395BTPA) . What went wrong with the old Samsung? VRT stopped working and it added lots of extra time to try and re-balance our loads adding many minutes to our washing, and very wet clothes to our drying from failed spin attempts. If your washer sits in a cold basement or garage and you wash with cold water Samsung washers may not spin or drain at all.Why go Samsung again? It looks like from the list of new features they've been listening and learning from past mistakes. We had bought the original Samsung as a stackable set and our dryer is still working fine. We wanted to keep the stacking dryer so we went to Lowes and looked at the 3 white Samsungs they had in stock. Our Samsung was installed with the SK-3A stacking kit. I'd probably pick up a SK-5A stacking kit just to see if the rear brackets match better. The SK-3A only has 1 out of 4 screws that lined up, but at least we got a match.Tips:Vibration - If you can find a Samsung VRT PLUS model go for that. It is 40% less vibrations than regular VRT. Unfortunately Lowes didn't have any White VRT PLUS models yet. Make sure you use a level (the water bubble tool) to verify your washer is sitting level on the floor. MAKE SURE THE INSTALLER DOES THIS (I had to provide the level tool!). The Samsung foot has a locking washer nut that has to be engaged before rotating the foot taller or shorter. After you physically level it you can then stack the dryer on top. Our new Samsung has a cool feature called CALIBRATE that you set by holding the TEMP and DELAY/START buttons for 3 seconds. It will then run a 3 minute calibration to adjust VRT. Just make sure the washer is empty and dryer isn't running. After a week or two bring your level back out and adjust feet and re-run calibration. This will do a lot to save on the wear and tear on your clothes than if VRT fails and adds minutes/hours to a load of laundry as if fails to spin optimally.Deep Steam - I don't think most folks use this, but make sure try this feature within 7 days of purchase. Samsung had a history of smoke and burning smells in past models so make sure yours works while you are still in Lowe's 7 day return window, otherwise you have to deal with Samsung.Pure Cycle - This is Samsung's response to all the mold smells people reported with stacking their washers. I think the air vents and trapped water combined with folks who only washed in cold ended up with users having hidden mold/bacteria growing behind the drum. You can't run this feature with clothes in it! It basically backwashes the drum in high temp. If you do use a drum cleaner only use 1/10th the amount in the directions. Also if you smell mold keep the door open to let it air dry out completely.Over Heating - Between the steam feature, the built in heater, the high temp sanitize and the even faster 1,200 RPM it is even more important that you DO NOT FILL MORE THAN 3/4 FULL and that you REST 20 MINUTES between loads. I'm convinced we broke our other Samsung because we didn't do this.Drain Plug/Filter - Samsung has also added a filter for the waste water. I see this as more of an annoyance, but it helps reduce clogging. It requires you to take a bowl and drag a mini tube and drain the washing machine of any hidden water. You can then open the plug and take a tooth brush and clean out the pipe (important so you can put plug back in) and you can then scrub all the crap of the filter cap. You are told to do this every 2 months, but I know most folks wait for the nd error message (no drainage).Samsung comes with crappy rubber hookup hoses. Make sure you ask the installers to use the metal fabric lined rubber hoses to connect the washer. This prevents the rubber hose from bursting and flooding your house! Never keep and re-use old hoses.Installers - They give you a 3 hour window of when to be home. Our installer was efficient and quick, but I had to be on them to level the washer and reconnect the dryer hose after stacking.Impressed that Samsung and Lowes made it easy to get back up and running with a mismatched set of new Samsung Washer to a 5 year old Samsung gas dryer.
